Liverpool set to cash in come January
Liverpool could be set to cut their loses and sell midfielder Christian Poulsen, despite only signing the player in August.
Brought in as a replacement for Javier Mascherano, Poulsen has only managed eight league appearances for the Reds and has struggled to achieve his best form this season.
It is believed that one of Poulsen’s former clubs, FC Schalke, is interested in signing the Danish midfielder for a price thought to be €3.5 million – around €1 million less that what Liverpool paid for him only four months earlier.
Poulsen arrived at Anfield with a very good reputation. Following a spell at then UEFA Cup champions Sevilla, he secured a big money move to Italian giants Juventus in 2008 where he stayed for two years.
The 2005 and 2006 Danish Player of the Year has failed to impose his style of play in the Premier League and has seem himself fall behind Raul Meireles in the starting XI so Roy Hodgson could be tempted to cash in on Poulsen in January.
